Finally! A Safe Option For Kids Online..BUT

There is a catch..
If you are a tech savvy parent (such as myself), you may have been on the lookout for a safe way for your child to surf the internet and interact with other children. Yes, there are other options (such as AOL Kids); I have experienced numerous glitches in their safety features and a lack of real customer support to effectively resolve any technical glitches an account may incur.
You can just be one of those 'cool' parents and allow your child to have a Facebook account before they turn 13; however with the ever changing 'we respect your privacy today, and tomorrow we will tell the world what color underwear you have on' privacy settings, I could not trust allowing my child on the site so openly.
I received a press release about a new site launch claiming
Pen Pal Kids Club, the world's only safe, translated global social network for children, today announced its global launch. Pen Pal Kids Club is an edu-tainment website where kids can freely SHARE, EXPLORE & PLAY with other kids around the world.
I checked out the site and it seemed appealing until you read the membership part of the site..
It is free to sign up, however to use the site for school and other promised aspects of the site your family has to subscribe and pay a $4.99 a month fee.
Is your family's safety worth the subscriber fee? I will let you be the judge.
On the flip side, say you are out and about and there is a guy or girl stalking you...
If you have a child and that person finds out, they can use the information the child posts to find out more about you and your activities.
Please police what your child posts online, whatever the decided posting outlet may be.
